Another One Bites the Dust

In his defense, at least he's quickly trying to remove the offending object... albeit with a smile on his face.

My Australian Tears

I'm almost a year behind on my Christian music news. I LOVE the Newsboys, and only this week I realized that their lead singer, the gorgeous Peter Furler, left the band sometime last year. How can you claim to be The Newsboys and not have Peter Furler up there singing his bald little heart out, with all that passion and presence and sexy Australian accent?!?!

Old Newsboys:

New Newsboys:

That is not that Newsboys!! You might notice that they're also missing Phil Joel (the bass guitarist with the long, curly hair), who left a couple years ago. Now, the new lead singer is Michael Tate, who used to sing for DC Talk. DC Talk was great; I have a couple of their albums and still enjoy them. But Michael Tate makes the Newsboys something very different, and frankly, I don't know if I'll like it.

Yes, I'm sure he'll sing beautifully for them. Yes, it's not all about me. And yes, I know, the focus should not be Peter Furler, it should be about spreading the message of Christ. Touche. In the meantime, I'll be crying pools of tears into my pillow for my Australian love.

No Swiping!

Sophie L-O-V-E-S Dora. Her enamored state has led to frequent role-playing, during which Will is rather unwillingly cast as "Swiper the Fox," who is the villain of sorts. If Will has a toy Sophie wants she tells him, "Swiper, no swiping!" The first video is Will trying to mimic the phrases used in Dora. If you've never seen Dora, the second video is a short clip of Dora and Swiper.

The Forbidden

Mom's cell phone and the camera lens cover. He hit the jackpot and he knows it.

Nothin' Says LOVE Like Good Friends and Good Cookies

On Wednesday Sophie's friend, Stuart, came over to make cookies with her. They had a blast! On Friday Sophie said to me, "Mommy, who could come make cookies with us?" I said, "I don't know, who?" She said, "I bet Stuart could!" They are cute little buddies.

My daughter would give her right leg (and probably her left as well) for cookies. Her love for cookies shines bright in the picture below. Sheesh- what a 2-year-old!

I caught Stuart on camera after he spilled the red sprinkles all over. Too cute!

The brothers played beside each other all morning.

Sweet girl.

These beauties were 2-year-old masterpieces.

Mmmmmmm. These are seriously the best homemade sugar cookies (and frosting) I've ever had, thanks to my mother-in-law. I couldn't stop eating them. It's hard telling a 2-year-old to quit when you're being a hypocrite! If you need a good recipe let me know. These are amazing.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Nuggets Update

I've started a new job, three half-days a week, and surprisingly I cannot keep on top of a THING. I'm sure you're thinking: but Kelly, it's just 3 mornings a week... what's wrong with you? I've been asking myself the same question every day for the last two weeks.

Because I haven't had the time to do my normal, quick posts that I enjoy, I thought I'd post a more boring update with some pictures. I'm sure Ben's parents will at least enjoy it if no one else does.

Yesterday we took a trip to the audiologist for our routine retesting of both kids. Unfortunately, little Sophers has shown another decline in her hearing. The audiologist was slightly concerned due to the fact that Sophie's hearing was completely stable for over 2 years, and then in the last six months she's had two episodes of decline. She suggested that we follow up with our ENT and talk to him about possibly doing an MRI. I would not be honest without admitting that I do have some anxieties over this, but the book of Philippians tells me to "not be anxious about anything... but with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." SO, finding things to be thankful for, such as hearing aids, while we go to Him in prayer! Oh how we love our hearing aids! (And thankful for my sweet sister who was so good to remind me of this).

Here is Sophers doing her speech homework with her Daddy:

Things with Nugget #3 are good. We had the first doc's visit last week and heard the heartbeat. Everything looked good, heartbeat was high (girl?), and I felt this sense of thankfulness and reality. A third?... Really? I truly am more nervous about this one than I was when expecting Will (although he was a little more... errr... planned, shall we say?).

Yet then I experience moments like in the picture below. God is so gracious to always remind me that the life He's created inside of me is just as precious as the two I now watch playing on my floor; the two that fill my heart to overflowing; the two that I adore.

That's most of the news from our corner of the world. Perhaps one of these days I'll return to your regularly scheduled programming. Don't give up on me yet.

Women Walking With God 2010

Each year in April, my church - Northside Church of Christ - hosts the Women Walking With God conference. We're getting ready for our fourth year, and it just keeps getting better and bigger (last year over 800 women attended!). The conference is the last weekend in April. If you will be anywhere near Wichita, you should make plans to come this year - you will be so blessed by the experience!

Go check out this year's promo video!! The video is incredible and I was humbled to take part in such a powerful work of the Lord.

If you have questions please let me know... I hope to see you there this year!!

February 2nd, 2000

It was TEN YEARS AGO today that I "officially" became "Ben's girl." Yes, folks, our dating anniversary was on Groundhog's Day. Before you begin to tease me, at least it wasn't Valentine's Day - now that would be cheesy. (Funnily enough, I actually said that one time in Dr. Don's marriage class and he politely informed me that his wedding anniversary was on Valentine's Day. Oops.)

This pic is from that night. He took me to see The Tigger Movie. I was a happy girl that night. All these years later, he still makes me a very happy girl.
