Half A Year

6 months. 20 pounds. Probably 50 rolls on this sweet little bod. 2 chins. 3 necks. 2 deep dimples. Tons of giggles when tickled. Very loud, just like his brother. Blue eyes. Fiery red hair. Temper to match. Otherwise gloriously happy. And his momma is in love yet again.

Deliverance

"Momma, I wanna read you a Bible story. It's called, 'Jesus to the Rescue!'" Fits of giggles erupted from us both, four feet entwined as we tickled and wrestled and finally settled to listen to her story.

She read her story, and soon she came to the page named after the title, where she called out yet again in her little (yet oh, so big!) 3-year-old voice, "Jesus to the reeeescuuuue!!!"

Without missing a beat, she continued on, captivated by her own saga. The one that told of sorrow and trouble, and this superhero, this Jesus, who made everything okay.

And as I sat and listened... it just... HIT me. "Yes, my child! YES!! He IS your superhero, isn't He? Please remember, sweet girl. Never forget. For He is mine as well. Praise Him, He rescued me. And He still does, every day. Oh praise Him!"

"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:13-14

Win Win

She loves to read to him. He loves his sister. It's a symbiotic type of thing.

When Life Gives You Ridiculously Cold Temperatures That Only Exist in Movies Where The People Eat Each Other...

...make snow ice cream. The hip alternative to cannibalism.

(Yes, the rumors are true. Sometimes Mommy stays in her p.j.s and never fixes her hair or puts on makeup.)

Brownies are the perfect complement to the snow.

Daddies can play with the leftover snow.

As long as they're copasetic with the destruction that will quickly ensue.

SNOW ICE CREAM (a tradition passed to our family from Carla's)
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
4 tsp vanilla
-Mix ingredients together and add a small amount of snow to chill the mixture. Stir into a large bowl of snow and enjoy!
